ISIS Are Bloodthirsty Murderers – by Shaykh Muhammad Bin Ramzaan al-Haajiree

The following is a stern rebuke of ISIS issued by Shaykh Muhammad Ibn Ramzaan al-Haajiree(حفظهالله) during the opening statements on the first day of Dawrah of Masjid ‘Utbah ibn Ghazwaan in Dammam, KSA.  This article was translated by our noble brother Abu Afnaan Muhammad ‘Abdullah (حفظهالله).

The Shaykh (حفظهالله) said:

“Woe unto you!! Woe unto you from the affair of Allah!  O you people of Dawaa’esh (ISIS)!

Whatever you sent from these video clips to terrorize populations and show that you are bloodthirsty murderers.”

Yes, you do not represent Islaam. Rather, you are a conspiracy against Islaam and illustrate what you are upon from the beliefs of the Khawaarij, and the people of Islaam are free from you.

To whoever hears this speech, from those present or listening via these devices, by Allah what they (ISIS) are doing does not represent the religion of Muhammad (sallAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) – the religion of mercy which came with the  rectification of beliefs and worship. It came with teaching the people and (it came) with good character. It came with promoting the truth and repressing falsehood.

Rather, what they do is bloodthirsty murder, which is what is done by every wayward stranger to Islaam!

Statements of the People of Knowledge Regarding the Soofeeyah

Compiled & Translated By Abbas Abu Yahya

Shamsuddeen Muhammad bin Abee Bakr Ibn Qayyim aj-Jawzeeyah (d.751) -Rahimullaah- said:

‘I heard Shaykh ul-Islaam Ibn Taymeeyah (d.728) -Rahimullaah- narrate from some of the righteous people that they said: ‘That people worship Allaah, and as for theSoofeeyah then they worship their own selves.’

[Taken from: ‘Swallat Ibn al-Qayyim liShaykh ul-Islaam Ibn Taymeeyah’ P.269 & ‘Madarij Salikeen’ 1/260]

Ibn Qayyim aj-Jawzeeyah (d.751) -Rahimullaah- said:

‘And how good is what Abu Ahmad ash-Shayrazi said: ‘The Soofeeyah used to ridicule Shaytaan and now the Shaytaan ridicules them! !’

[Taken from: ‘Ighaatul al-Lafaan Fee Massaeed ash-Shaytaan’ with the checking by Shaykh Albani Vol. 1 p.241]

The Deception of the Shaytaan of the Soofeeyah

Shaykh Muhammad Hamid al-Faqee -Rahimullaah- comments on the statement ofImaam Ibn al-Qayyim -Rahimullaah- when he spoke about the deception of the Shaytaan of the Soofeeyah, when he Imaam Ibn al-Qayyim -Rahimullaah- said:

‘The Shaytaan caused them to buzz around (dance) and to beat/strike the ground whizzing around on their feet, then sometimes he makes them like donkeys going around a pivot, and sometimes like insects dancing  in the middle of the house…’

Shaykh Muhammad Hamid al-Faqee said:

‘The Shaykh (Ibn al-Qayyim -Rahimullaah) intends the Mutasawwafa (Soofeeyah) who form into circles, then stand up in those circles and dance and swing from side to side to the tune of singing and musical instruments.  They shout, scream and dance together with what they call Dhikr (remembrance of Allaah), rather it is sinfulness, disobedience and the remembrance of Shaytaan, may Allaah guide them and free them and free Islaam from those evils and crimes.’

[Taken from: ‘Ighaatul al-Lafaan Fee Massaeed ash-Shaytaan’ with the checking by Shaykh Albani Vol. 1 p.409]

How the Shaytaan Deceived the People that Whistling and Clapping is Prayer

Shamsuddeen Muhammad bin Abee Bakr Ibn Qayyim aj-Jawzeeyah (d.751) -Rahimullaah- speaks about the Ayaah << Their prayer at the House (of Allaah) was nothing but whistling and clapping of hands. >> [Anfal: 35] and how the Shaytaan deceived the people that whistling and clapping is prayer.  Ibn al-Qayyim quotes: ‘Ibn Arafah and Ibn al-Ambaari who said: ‘that whistling and clapping is not prayer. . .’

Shaykh Muhammad Hamid al-Faqee commented on this by saying:

‘In reality this is not prayer, Allaah called it prayer because they used to whistle and clap in their thundering movements to the tunes of whistling and clapping, since they intended by it a means of coming closer to Allaah, so Allaah reprimanded them and criticized them, and Allaah clarified that He does not love that, He does not reward them for it except with a painful punishment.

And that whistling and clapping (of the polytheists) is like what takes place in the gatherings of the Soofeeyah of our time, like for like; dancing movements to the tune of whistling and clapping. Their deep-rooted desires beautified this, likewise their ignorance and the Shayateen from the men and Jinn, beautified this to make them think that it is Dhikr (remembrance of Allaah) and worship!!

Allaah is far from this.’

[Taken from: ‘Ighaatul al-Lafaan Fee Massaeed ash-Shaytaan’ with the checking by Shaykh Albani Vol. 1 p.440]

The Soofeeyah’s Dislike of Knowledge

Imaam Shamsuddeen Muhammad bin Ahmad bin Uthmaan ad-Dhahabi (d.748) -Rahimullaah- quoted:

‘Ibn Baakwaya said: ‘One day Abu Abdullaah bin Khaffeef saw Ibn Maktoom and his group and they were writing something, so he said:

‘What is this?’

They said: ‘We are writing such and such.’

He said:

‘Busy yourselves by learning something and do not be deceived by the speech of theSoofeeyah.  I used to hide my pen in the pocket of my rags and the paper in the pocket of my garment and I would go in hiding to the people of knowledge, if they (theSoofeeyah) found out I was there they would dispute with me and say: you will not be successful, but then eventually they were in need of me (this knowledge).’

Imam ad-Dhahabi (d.748) -Rahimullaah- said:

‘This Shaykh had combined between knowledge and action and getting chains of narrations (Ahadeeth) from their sources, and would adhere to the Sunnan with a long enjoyable life in obedience to Allaah.’

[Taken from ‘Siyaar ‘Alaam an-Nubala’ 16/346 - 347]

Imaam Shamsuddeen Muhammad bin Ahmad bin Uthmaan ad-Dhahabi (d.748) -Rahimullaah- quoted Ghazali saying:

‘Ghazali said: The Soofeeyah have taken to inspirational knowledge and not proper learnt knowledge, so one of them sits with his heart being empty, with total concern he says: ‘Allaah, Allaah, Allaah’ continuously so that his heart becomes empty. The Soofeeyah do not busy themselves with recitation of Qur’aan, nor with the books of Hadeeth.  So if the Soofireaches this limit, then he stays in his house alone in the darkness and in a garment wrapped up, then at that time he hears the call of truth: <<O you (Prophet) enveloped (in garments)! >>[Surah Al-Muddathir]

<< O you wrapped in garments (Prophet Muhammad)! >>[Surah Al-Muzzammil]

Imaam ad-Dhahabi (d.748) commented:

‘The leader of creation indeed heard <<O you (Prophet) enveloped (in garments)!>> [Surah Al-Muddathir] from Jibraeel from Allaah. As for this idiot, then he never heard the call of truth, rather he heard the Shaytaan, or he heard it from his fickled brain and did not hear it in reality, and success is adhering to the Sunnah and al-Ijmaa’(consensus).’

[Taken from ‘Siyaar ‘Alaam an-Nubala’ 19/322-346]

A Rich Thankful Person and a Needy Patient Person who is Better?

Ibn Qayyim aj-Jawzeeyah (d.751) -Rahimullaah- after discussing the issue of: ‘The difference amongst the people about a rich thankful person and a needy patient person who is better?’

He mentions:

‘The definition of al-Faqar (poverty – needy) according to many of the people, had become such that they regarded: al-Faqar to be Zuhud, worship and manners. They labeled the one described with Zuhud, worship and manners as a Faqeer (needy person) even though he possessed wealth.

And they said about the one who is not described with Zuhud, worship and manners as not a Faqeer (needy person) even if he does not possess wealth, and perhaps it is possible that this meaning can be called Tasawwuf.

And from the people there are those who differentiate between the title al-Faqeer(needy person) and as-Soofi, then there are from these people who regard the term al-Faqeer better, and from them are those people who hold the view that the title as-Soofiis better.

Research into this issue shows that one should not look at innovated words, but one should look at what the Book and the Sunnah brought from words and meanings, indeed Allaah gave the description of His Aawliya which is that of al-Eemaan and at-Taqwa so whoever has a greater portion is better and the rich people are equivalent in regard to this, and Allaah knows best.’

[Taken from ‘Udaatus Sabireen’ p.293]

Ibn al-Qayyim’s Refutation Against the Soofeeyah in their Rejection of Knowledge

Shamsuddeen Muhammad bin Abee Bakr Ibn Qayyim aj-Jawzeeyah (d.751) -Rahimullaah- said:

‘As for what is narrated about some of them [i.e. the Soofeeyah] in that they regard knowledge as insignificant and them being in no need of knowledge, then that is like the one [Soofee] who said:

‘We take our knowledge directly from the living One, who does not die, as for you then you take it from one who lives and then dies [i.e. narrators of hadeeth].’

Another one said when he was asked: ‘Why don’t you travel so that you can hear hadeeth from AbdurRazzaq?’

He answered: ‘What can I do with narrating from AbdurRazzaq, when someone hears directly from the Creator?’

Another one [Soofee] said: ‘Knowledge is a veil between the heart and between Allaah – Azza wa Jal – [i.e. Prevents you from reaching Allaah].’

Another said: ‘If you see a Soofee busying himself with ‘Akhbarana’ (he informed us) and ‘Haddathana’ (he narrated to us) [These terms are used in narrating hadeeth] then wash your hands from him [i.e. keep away from him].’

Another one said: ‘We have knowledge from numerical codes and you have knowledge from papers.’

Ibn Qayyim aj-Jawzeeyah (d.751) -Rahimullaah- comments on their statements by saying:

‘The best of the conditions of those who say these statements and other similar statements is that he is an ignoramus who can be excused for his ignorance. Or a negligent person who acknowledges his negligence, or otherwise if it was not for AbdurRazzaq and the likes of him [scholars of hadeeth], and if it was not for ‘Akhbarana’ (he informed us) and ‘Haddathana’ (he narrated to us) then nothing of Islaam would have reached this person and those similar to him.

And whoever directs you to other than ‘Akhbarana’ (he informed us) and ‘Haddathana’(he narrated to us) then he has directed you to either, Soofee fiction, or philosophical analogy, or to his own personal opinion.  There is nothing after the Qur’aan or ‘Akhbarana’ (he informed us) and ‘Haddathana’(he narrated to us) except the doubts of the people of theological rhetoric and the opinions of the deviant people, and the imaginations of the Soofeeyah, and analogies of the philosophers. Whoever separates himself from the evidences then he becomes misguided away from the correct path, there is no evidence to lead to Allaah and Paradise except the Book and the Sunnah.  Every path which is not accompanied with the Qur’aan and the Sunnah is from the path of Hell and the Shaytaan nirajeem (accursed Shaytaan).’

[Madarij   vol.2 p.438-439]

Imam Muhammad bin Idrees Sha’fiee -Rahimullaah- (d.204 A.H.) said in a poem:

قال الشافعي رحمه الله
كل العلوم سوى القرآن مشغلة                            إلا الحديث وعلم الفقه والدين
العلم ما كان فيه قال حدثنا                                                                     وما سوى ذلك وساوس الشياطين

Every knowledge other than the Qur’aan is a distraction *

Except the hadeeth and the knowledge of Fiqh of the Deen *

Knowledge is that which has ‘He said’ ‘he narrated to us’ *

Everything other than that is whisperings of Shayateen *

[‘Dewaan ash-Sha’fiee’ (p.124), ‘Bidayya wa Nihiyya’ (10/254)]

The Grand Muftī of Saudi Arabia warns against the Muslim Brotherhood, ISIS, and Jabhat un-Nusrah

Question: Nowadays, there are those who call the Muslim youth and the Muslims in general to a new methodology, a methodology of partisanship, causing them to split into groups and parties. They say that this is the correct methodology, i.e. joining the likes of Jabhat un-Nusrah, ISIS (Dā’esh), Al-Qā’idah and the Muslim Brotherhood (Ikhwān ul-Muslimīn).

Comments on some books of Shaykh Abdul-Rahman Abdul-Khaliq – Imam Ibn Baz

Fatwas of Ibn Baz > Volume 8 >

From `Abdul-`Aziz ibn `Abdullah ibn Baz to His Honorable Eminence Shaykh `Abdul-Rahman ibn `Abdul-Khaliq.

May Allah guide you to what pleases Him and increase you in knowledge and Iman (Faith), Amen.

As-salamu `alaykum warahmatullah wabarakatuh (May Allah’s Peace, Mercy, and Blessings be upon you!).

I received your letter dated 8/3/1415 A. H. And that was handed to me by the honorable brother `A. Kh. S. All that you explained in your letter is clear. May Allah grant you guidance and success.

I was so delighted by what you mentioned that you abide by the practice of the Salaf (righteous predecessors) and those who followed them rightly. I was pleased with your statement that all things you stated that oppose the way of the Salaf were only mistakes or due to forgetfulness and I was delighted by your mentioning that you are keen to know your mistakes to correct them in case they are truly ascribed to you.

I was also happy because of your declaration that you forgive and pardon those who wronged you and that you seek to be rewarded by Allah (Glorified and Exalted be He) for this etc.

However, I received your letter on the thirtieth of the month of Safar 1415 A.H. After the forty-second session of the Council of Senior Scholars had ended. If we need to review your letter in the Council, we will do so next session In sha’a-Allah (if Allah wills).

Following are the names of your books that I have comments on:

  • First: Usul Al-`Amal Al-Jama`y “Basics of collective work”.
  • Second: Al-Khutut Al-Ra’isiyyah Li Ba`th Al-Ummah Al-Islamiyyah. “Main Guidelines for the revival of the Muslim Nation”.
  • Third: Wujub Tatbiq Al-Hudud Al-Shar`iyyah “The Obligation of applying the Islamic legal penalties”.
  • Fourth: Mashru`iyyat Al-Jihad Al-Jama`y “Legality of collective fighting/striving in the Cause of Allah”.
  • Fifth: Al-Wasayah Al-`Ashr “The ten commandments”.
  • Sixth: Fusul Min Al-siyasah Al-Shar`iyyah “Chapters from Islamic law based policy”.
  • Seventh: A comment on a tape entitled: Al-Madrasah Al-Salafiyyah “School of Salafiyyah’ those following the way of the righteous predecessors’”.

Firstly: You mentioned in your book Usul Al-`Amal Al-Jama`y what reads: “Some of those who are ascribed to the call of Shaykh Muhammad Ibn `Abdul-Wahhab (may Allah be merciful to him) claimed that whoever starts a Jama`ah (group) for Da`wah (calling to Islam) and Jihad (fighting/striving in the Cause of Allah) is a Kharijite (member of a separatist group called Khawarij that believes committing a major sin amounts to disbelief)”.

- “They also claimed that ‘the governmental’ regime and parties contradict Din (religion).”

- Moreover, you claimed that some of the seekers of knowledge who attribute themselves to Shaykh Muhammad Ibn `Abdul-Wahhab (may Allah be merciful to him) gave the contemporary rulers rights that were neither given to Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq nor `Umar ibn Al-Khattab, and that, as far as you know, has no precedence in the whole Muslim history and had not been mentioned by any trustworthy scholar in any book. Such rights are: no one is permitted to enjoin Ma`ruf (that which is judged as good, beneficial, or fitting by Islamic law and Muslims of sound intellect) or forbid Munkar (that which is unacceptable or disapproved of by Islamic law and Muslims of sound intellect) unless they get permission from the Imam (ruler) and that it is impermissible to repel any attack against Muslim territories unless the Imam permits so. You mentioned that the advocates of the foregoing thus gave the ruler the same attributes of the Lord (Glorified and Exalted be He). Truth thus is what the ruler ordains and falsehood is what he declares Haram (prohibited). According to such seekers of knowledge, whatever the Imam does not decide should not be decided by anybody else. In other words, whatever affairs of Din and interests of Muslims the Imam neglects, Muslims have to ignore in order not to displease the Imam.

(Usul Al-`Amal Al-Jama`y pp. 10-11). This is what you mentioned in your book. Nevertheless, I do not know that any of the followers of Shaykh Muhammad Ibn `Abdul-Wahhab (may Allah be merciful to him) said so. You then did not refer to the source book from which you cited this or the person who told you so. Otherwise, you have to acknowledge that you were mistaken, that such a claim has no valid root and that you now know that none of the followers of Shaykh Muhammad Ibn `Abdul-Wahhab(may Allah be merciful to him) had said so. You also have to verify the authenticity of your sources in your future writings and your aim should be clarifying the truth and falsehood without mentioning names of people except when necessary.

Secondly: You said in your tape Al-Madrasah Al-Salafiyyah: “Scholars of Saudi Arabia are totally unaware and ignorant of contemporary problems… (and that) their Salafiyyah is a traditional worthless one.”

Such a saying from you is false for scholars of Saudi Arabia know about all contemporary problems and they wrote many books on them. All praise be to Allah Alone, I am one of scholars who dealt with contemporary problems and I wrote uncountable writings on them. All praise be to Allah Alone, scholars of Saudi Arabia are amongst the most knowledgeable scholars of the way of Ahl-ul-Sunnah wal-Jama`ah (adherents to the Sunnah and the Muslim mainstream). They follow the same understanding of our Salaf regarding Tawhid (belief in the Oneness of Allah), issues relating to Allah’s Names and Attributes, issues relating to warning against Bid`ahs (innovations in the religion), etc. Thus if you are ignorant of all this, you have to read the series of Ibn Qasim called Al-Durar Al-Sunniyyah, the Fatwas of our Shaykh Muhammad ibn Ibrahim(may Allah be merciful to him), and our own writings on this i.e. our Fatwas and published books.

Undoubtedly, what you said about the scholars of Saudi Arabia is untrue and a serious mistake. You thus have to correct yourself and declare this in local newspapers inKuwait and Saudi Arabia. I ask Allah (Exalted be He) to guide us all, to help us return to the truth and stay firm on it. Verily, Allah (Glorified be He) is the Best One to be asked.

Thirdly: You mentioned in your book Al-Khutut Al-Ra’isiyyah Li Ba`th Al-Ummah Al-Islamiyyah pp. 72-73: “Our Arab and Islamic countries do not generally apply Shari`ah (Islamic law) except to some of the personal status issues. However, all our countries with no exception follow laws of the West or the East regarding all financial transactions and political and international laws. The same applies to criminal laws such as Hudud (ordained punishments for violating Allah’s Law) are imported and fabricated etc.“, p. 78.

Such generality is incorrect for, all praise be to Allah Alone, Saudi Arabia applies Shari`ah, establish Hudud, and Shar`y (Islamic legal) courts have been founded all over the Saudi Arabian Kingdom. Nevertheless, I do not claim that Saudi Arabia or any other country is infallible.

Besides, I came to know that the sultan of the government of Brunei ordered that Shari`ah has to be applied with regard to all matters and under all circumstances. You then have to withdraw such a statement and declare so in local newspapers of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. Had you said “most of the Arab and Muslim countries…”, this would have been convenient as it is the reality of the matter. I ask Allah to grant us all guidance and success.

Fourthly: You mentioned in your book Wujub Tatbiq Al-Hudud Al-Shar`iyyah p. 26:

“3- Removing the causes of crime before applying the punishment: Apart from fanaticism and ignorance I say: ‘It is definitely impermissible to apply the Shar`y punishment before removing the reasons of the crime. We have to excuse the criminal if they were under the influence of monopoly, injustice, the absence of social solidarity, and the spread of selfishness.

I say: in such a society there may be excuses for whoever is obliged to commit theft and whoever is obliged to commit Zina (adultery) to support her child, old mother, or sick father.I think it is a sign of naivety and ignorance that we punish the adulterer or the fornicator while we allow all kinds of wantonness and libertinism. Therefore, it is neither rational nor wise that we apply Shar`y criminal Hudud before removing all causes of the concerned crimes.’” See p. 27.

Again, what has been mentioned above is incorrect. It contradicts truth and I do not know of any scholar who said the same except a narration that `Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) suspended the application of theft Hadd (ordained punishment for violating Allah’s Law) during the year of famine. However, even if such a narration is Sahih (authentic), the issue still needs Ijtihad (juristic effort to infer expert legal rulings) and insight.

Anyway, explicit texts of the Qur’an and Sunnah (whatever is reported from the Prophet) clearly state the obligation of inflicting the Hadd on whomever is proven to be guilty.

You have thus to withdraw what you have mentioned in this book and declare this in local newspapers in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. You also have to declare so in a special book in which you withdraw all your mistakes.

It is well known that truth is firm as `Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said to Abu Musa Al-Ash`ary (may Allah be pleased with them all). Consequently, returning to the truth is better than persisting in falsehood.

May Allah guide us all to what pleases Him! May He protect us all from the causes of His Anger!

Fifthly: You called in your book Mashru`iyyat Al-Jihad p. 28, 37, 39 and your book Al-Wasaya Al-`Ashr p. 71, 44 to dividing Muslims into groups and parties and mentioned that such division is a good phenomenon.

Nevertheless, it is well known that your call referred to above opposes the Qur’an and Hadith. For example, Allah (Glorified be He) says: And hold fast, all of you together, to the Rope of Allâh (i.e. this Qur’ân), and be not divided among yourselves Allah (Glorified and Exalted be He) also says: Verily, those who divide their religion and break up into sects (all kinds of religious sects), you (O Muhammad Sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam) have no concern in them in the least. There are many other Ayahs (Qur’anic verses) to the same effect.

Moreover, the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Muslim, Sahih, Book on judicial decisions, no. 1715; Ahmad ibn Hanbal, Musnad, vol. 2, p. 367; and Malik, Al-Muwatta’, Book on miscellaneous matters, no. 1863.Allah is pleased with three things you do: that you worship Him and do not associate anything with Him, that you take hold of the rope of Allah altogether and that you give good counsel to the one to whom Allah gives command over you. There are many other Hadiths to the same effect.

You have thus to withdraw this and declare it in local newspapers as well as in the book in which I advised you earlier to compose and mention all the mistakes you corrected.

Sixthly: You mentioned in your book Fusul Min Al-Siyasah Al-Shar`iyyah pp. 31-32 that demonstrations were amongst the means that the Prophet (peace be upon him) used to make Da`wah.

As I do not find any text to prove this, please tell me your reference and source of information.

If you do not have an authorized source for the foregoing allegation, then you have to withdraw it. It is considerable to mention that I do not know any text to prove such a claim. It is well known that demonstrations lead to many evils. Anyway, if there is a Sahih text on demonstrations, this has to be completely clarified so that corrupters do not use it as proof for their false demonstrations.

Finally, I ask Allah (Exalted be He) to help us all to acquire beneficial knowledge, to do good deeds, to set right all our hearts and actions, to make us amongst the guiding and the guided people. Verily, Allah is the Most Generous, the Most Bountiful.

As-salamu `alaykum warahmatullah wabarakatuh.

Fatwas of the Permanent Committee>Group 2>Volume 2: `Aqidah>The Sects>Ahmad Deedat’s “Al-Qur’an the Miracle of Miracles”

Fatwa no. 19040

Q: Ahmad Deedat said in his book “Al-Qur’an the Miracle of Miracles” that Qur’an includes many references to the number 19 and its multiplications. He gave many examples and here are some of them:
- The word “اسم” (name) is mentioned 19 times in the Qur’an.
- The word “الله” (Allah) is mentioned 2698 (19 x 142) times in the Qur’an.
- The word “الرحيم” (The Most Merciful) is mentioned 114 (19 x 6) times in the Qur’an.
- The letter “ن” (Nun) is mentioned 133 (19 x 7) times in Surah Al-Qalam.
He also made reference to the study conducted by Dr. Rashad Khalifah in his book “Al-Qur`an Taqdim Mar’y li-Mu`jizah”. Here are some examples of the points he raised:
- The first Qur’anic revelation is composed of 19 words which include 76 (19 x 4) letters.
- The first Surah (Qur’anic chapter) revealed in the Qur’an includes 19 Ayahs (Qur’anic verses) and 285 (19 x 15) letters, etc.
Please give us your Fatwa (legal opinion issued by a qualified Muslim scholar) in this regard.

Answer:

This study is among the fabricated falsities of a sect called Al-Batiniyyah Al-Baha’iyyah. It is based on glorifying the number 19. There is no doubt that this study is false, as it involves manipulating the Glorious Qur’an and distracting people from pondering  its true meanings.

  • This malicious group holds many false beliefs such as some of its leaders claiming prophethood.
  • Its followers believe in Hulul (a Sufi term meaning indwelling) and Ittihad (a Sufi claim of union with Allah),
  • deem Jihad (fighting in the Cause of Allah) to be unlawful and
  • call for the unification of religions plus many other things.

So, it is the duty of Muslims to beware of falling into this evil group and of being affected by its ideas or books.

We ask Allah (Glorified and Exalted be He) to save us from their plotting and to protect Muslims from their evils, for He is All-Powerful.

May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.

Who are the khawaarij, Are they disbelievers or Muslims?

Shaykh ‘Abd al-‘Aziz ibn Baz:

The khawaarij are a (misguided) group that have extreme views. They are diligent in religious matters; they have diligence with regards to prayer, reading and other than that. However, they have extreme views: they declare sinful Muslims to be disbelievers (i.e. takfir).

[Tariq Jameel, commonly referred to as Maulana Tariq Jameel, is a Pakistani Islamic scholar from Tulamba near Mian Channu in Khanewal, Punjab. He is a member of Tablighi Jamaat and a Deobandi scholar who runs a Madrasa in Faisalabad, Pakistan. – Wikipedia ]

Hulool - Lit. “Entering” – Divine indwelling. The belief that Allaah dwells within a particular human. i.e. That Allaah dwells in a particular Soofi shaykh, a pious person, a Prophet – This belief is shared by Christians, certian Soofies, certian Sheites, Seekhs and others.

Wahdaatul Wujood – Lit – Unity of Existance. The belief that all existance is a single existance and everything we see are only aspects of the Essence of Allaah. This belief is also held by certian Soofies, Hindus, New Age religions, and others.

Shaykh Muhammad ibn Rabee’ ibn Haadee al-Madkhalee explained these two beliefs in “The Reality of Sufism in Light of the Qur’an and the Sunnah :”

The third ideology is that of wahdatul-wujood, i.e. that all in existence is a single reality, and that everything we see is only aspects of the Essence of Allaah. The chief claimant of this belief was Ibn ‘Arabee al-Haatimee at-Taa’ee, who was buried in Damascus having died in the year 638H. He himself says about this belief in his book al-Fatoohaat-ul-Makkiyyah”:

“The slave is the Lord and the Lord is a slave, I wish that I knew which was the one required to carry out the required duties. If I were to say the servant then that is true, or if I were to say the Lord, then how can that be required for Him.”

Al-Fatoohaat-ul-Makkiyyah as it is attributed by Dr. Taqiyyuddeen al-Hilaalee in his book al-Hadiyyatul-Haadiyah (p.43).

He also says in al-Fatoohaat:

“Those who worshipped the calf worshipped nothing except Allaah.”

Quoted as Ibn ‘Arabee’s saying by Ibn Tayrniyyah in al-Fataawaa (vol.11), who attributes it to the book al-Fatoohaat.

Ibn ‘Arabee is called ‘al-‘Aarif billaah’ (The one having great knowledge of Allaah) by the Sufis, and also ‘al-Qutubul Akbar’ (The great pivot), ‘al-Miskul-Adhfar’ (the sweetest smelling musk), “al-Kibreetul-Ahmar’ (the reddest brimstone), despite his belief in wahdatul-wujood and other calamitous sayings. Indeed he praised Fir’awn (Pharaoh) and declared that he died upon eemaan! Furthermore he speaks against Haroon for his criticism of his peoples worship of the calf, thus directly opposing the text of the Qur’aan. He also held that the Christians were Unbelievers only because they made divinity particular to ‘Eesaa, whereas if they had made it general to all then they would not have been unbelievers. [Despite all the gross deviation of Ibn ‘Arabee and the fact that the scholars declared him to be an Unbeliever, yet he is revered by the Sufis and others who do not distinguish between the truth and falsehood, and those who turn away from accepting the truth even when it is as clear as the sun. But his books, which are filled with clear apostasy, such as al-Fatoohaatul-Makkiyyah and Fusoosul-Hikam are still circulated. He even has a tafseer, which he called at-Tafseerul-Baatin since he holds that there is an apparent and a hidden meaning for every Aayah, so the outer meaning is for the people of Ta’weel.

From this group came Ibn Basheesh who said:

“O Allaah rescue me from the mire of Tawheed, and drown me in the centre of the sea of unity, and mix me into the state of unity and oneness until I do not see, nor hear, nor sense except through it.”

Abu Qilaabah said, “May Allaah fight the poet [an expression of amazement in Arabic] who said: Do not ask about a man, but ask about his companion. For every person guides himself by his companion. This poetry is by Adee bin Zaid, and al-Asma’ee said about it, “I have never seen a line of poetry which resembles the Sunnah more than this saying of Adee bin Zaid.” Al-Ibaanah (2/439)

Abu Hurairah – radiallaahu anhu – said, the Messenger of Allaah said, “A person is upon the deen of his friend, so let each one of you look at whom he befriends.” Saheeh. Refer to Silsilah as-Saheehah of al-Albaani (no.927)

Ibn Mas’ood – radiallaahu anhu – said, “Indeed a person walks alongside and accompanies the one whom he loves and who is like him.” Al-Ibaanah (2/476)

Abu ad-Dardaa – radiallaahu anhu – said, “It is from the fiqh (understanding of a person) that he [chooses] those whom he walks with, whom he enters upon (visits) and whom he sits with.” Al-Ibaanah (2/477)

Yahyaa bin Katheer said, “Sulaimaan bin Daawood – alaihis salaam – said: Do no pass a judgement over anyone with anything until you see whom he befriends.” Al-Ibaanah (2/464)

Moosaa bin Uqbah the Syrian approached Baghdad and this was mentioned to Imaam Ahmad. So it was said, “Look at whose residence he goes to and with whom he resides and finds shelter.” Al-Ibaanah (2/480)

Imaam Al-Awzaa’ee said, “Whoever hides his innovation from us will not be able to hide his companionship from us.” Al-Ibaanah (2/476)

Al-A’mash said, “They (the Salaf) did not used to ask anything more about a person after having asked about three affairs: Who he walks with, who he enters upon (i.e. visits) and who he associates with amongst the people.” Al-Ibaanah (2/478)

Muhammad bin Ubaid al-Ghulaabee said, “The Ahl ul-Ahwaa (People of Desires) hide everything except their intimate friendship and companionship.” Al-Ibaanah (2/482)

Mu’aadh bin Mu’aadh said to Yahyaa bin Sa’eed, “O Abu Sa’eed! A person may hide his viewpoint from us, but he will not be able to hide that in his son, or his friend or in the one whom he sits with.” Al-Ibaanah (2/437)

This is a question that was posed to Shaikh Muhammad ibn Haadi Al Madkhali, hafidhahullah, which was part of a lecture in manhaj delivered by The Noble Shaikh — May Allah preserve Him — when he met with his sons (i.e younger students of knowledge) in the city of Jeezaan on Tuesday the 8th of Shawaal in the year 1432 (corresponding to Tuesday the 6th of September 2011) after answering some of the questions posed by some of the attendees.
